Take a closer look at the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe & Cabriolet duo



The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet underwent a refresher not too long ago and now the guys at Daimler has released more images of the their facelifted two-door S-Classes.

The flagship coupe and cabriolet now feature redesigned front and rear bumper with chrome-plated finish, subtle but highly effective. The flashiest item on the list has got to be the new organic LED taillamps consisting of 66 ultra-flat individual OLED to create a unique light sequence. AMG Line gets a new 20-inch 10-spoke alloy wheel design finished in either high-sheen titanium grey or high-gloss black.

Inside, the two door S-Classes gets a revamped cabin design featuring the Widescreen Cockpit (two 12.3-inch display) and new-generation steering multifunctional steering wheel design. this being the flagship luxury coupe/cabriolet, the interior is furnished with high quality Nappa leather contrasted with a choice of high-gloss brown burr walnut wood, satin-finish grey ash wood or designo flowing lines magnolia wood.

The S-Class Coupe models are available with a 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 with 362 hp and 500 Nm of torque as well as a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 packing 462 hp and 700 Nm of torque. Meanwhile the S-Class Cabriolet only comes in a sole S 560 variant packing the same 4.0-litre V8 as its coupe twin. The new V8 engines now feature cylinder deactivation technology that shuts off four cylinders under light load for better fuel efficiency.

A nine-speed 9G-Tronic transmission comes as standard on all variants. Interestingly, the coupe style is only offered with a 4MATIC four-wheel drive layout while the cabriolet is strictly rear-wheel drive.

The optional Magic Body Control suspension on the S-Class Coupe has been further improved to detect road surfaces better and is now operable at speeds of up to 180 km/h, ensuring that you and your passengers are feel nothing more than a slight bump when you’re travelling at ridiculous speeds.

Lastly, Mercedes-Benz has fitted both the S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet with Active Distance Control DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist which semi-autonomously keeps a safe distance between the car in front, maintain the lane, steer and adjusts cruising speed according to bends or junctions.
