Jaguar China to introduce the XE long wheelbase “Love Edition”

Honestly, we’re not sure what to think of this except chuckle our guts out. While Jaguar was busy setting a lap record for the fastest saloon  around the Nurburgring in the Jaguar XE SV Project 8, on this side of the world, specifically in China, things took a turn for the unconventional.

Jaguar China is set to introduce the Jaguar XEL “Love Edition” to celebrate the launch of the Jaguar XEL, the long wheelbase version of the Jaguar XE sedan. It will be made in China by the Chery – JLR joint venture.

The Jaguar XEL Love Edition even comes with a tagline – Love is XEL. If you have any clue what that means, feel free to voice out in our comment section.

All that we’ve understood from the Jaguar China’s website is that the Love Edition is due for launch in 13 days and will come with 17-inch 15-spoke diamond cut wheels, keyless entry and what seems like a two-tone exterior – which doesn’t seem like much love.

Only a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine will be available, with 197 hp and 320 Nm of torque. 0 to 100 km/h will take 8.3 seconds with a top speed of 230 km/h. The “Love Edition” is a limited-run model where only 100 units will be made.

In Malaysia, Jaguar has the XE on sale in three different variants – the XE Prestige 200, the XE R-Sport 240 and the XE S ranging from RM 340k to RM 580k.
