Previously only unveiling a left hand drive variant, Naza Italia, the official importer and distributor for Maserati in Malaysia, has officially launched the Maserati Levante S at Desa Park City, Kuala Lumpur.
The marque’s first SUV, which comes in two trims – Gran Lusso and Gran Sport – has been engineered with Maserati twin-turbo V6 engine featuring the latest Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) technology at its core.
Its engine makes 430 hp with over 580 Nm of torque – 0 to 100 km/h takes just 5.2 seconds with a top speed of over 264 km/h. Stopping power is provided by Brembo’s 6-piston aluminium monobloc calipers clamping on drilled discs.
The Levante S adopts an 8-speed ZF gearbox providing quick shifts while presenting a choice of four drive modes, “Normal”, I.C.E., “Sport” and “Off-road”.
The Levante S boasts unparalleled agility thanks to its (lowest in class) centre of gravity, with extensive use of lightweight materials and 50:50 weight distribution. Its Air Suspension, electronically-controlled Skyhook shock absorbers and Q4 AWD system helps keep the Levante’s footing firm on the ground. The air suspension also contributes to reduced fuel consumption by lowering the car to reduce aerodynamic drag at medium to high speeds.
Inside, the Levante houses an 8.4-inch Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) display, the driving modes button cluster, an aluminium rotary knob and the air suspension height setup switch.
Safety wise, the Levante S comes with the Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) which includes Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.
In the Gran Lusso trim, which emphasises on luxury, it’s equipped with metallic-finish front skid plates and roof rails, GranLusso badges on the front wings, body-coloured side skirts and black-painted brake calipers tucked beneath those 19” Zefiro alloy wheels.
Inside, the GranLusso cabin combines a choice of Ermenegildo Zegna silk or premium Italian upholstery with a Radica open-pore wood trim and leather steering wheel. 12-way power comfort seats are standard, along with Bower & Wilkins sound system and soft-close doors.
The extravagant trim also includes standard 12-way power comfort seats, a Harman Kardon Sound System, power-adjustable steering wheel, illuminated door sills, parking sensors, navigation system and new Soft Close Doors.
The Gran Sport trim on the other hand can be differentiated by its Piano Black front grille, skid plates and roof rails, GranSport badges on the front wings, body-coloured side skirts, blue inserts on all Trident and Saetta logos and red brake calipers under its 20” Nereo wheels. 12-way powered leather seats are standard along with carbon trims, power-adjustable Inox sport pedals and a Sport steering wheel.
Priced at RM 788,800 without Insurance, the Levante S comes with 3 years Standard Warranty coverage with no mileage restriction plus a Maserati Premium Service Plus of 3 years/ 60,000 km whichever comes first.
