McLaren builds a “Dubai-edition” 720S – a tribute to its founder Bruce McLaren

Finished in Zenith Black paint with a satin finish, complete with gold-coloured alloy wheels, a 24-carat gold engine heatshield and gold-colour interior trims, a one of a kind McLaren 720S by McLaren Operations (MSO) with the “1 of 1” plaque will be McLaren’s centrepiece at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show.

Its unique rear wing bears the famous quote by McLaren founder, Bruce McLaren which goes, “Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone” – painted across the upper surface of the wing in gold Arabic lettering which echoes Dubai’s city skyline.

Personalisation of the car took more than 120 hours on top of the production process where the rear wing alone took 30 hours to complete using stensils produced by MSO.

The one-off edition sees an addition of carbon fibre exterior bits which include the front splitter, air intakes, rear bumper and roof panel. Its door mirror arms, rear aero bridge, engine cover and rear diffuser are all from the MSO Defined range of carbon fibre components.

Inside, the black Alcantara and leather trims complement the MSO Defined carbon fibre sill panels, air vents and steering wheel. Satin gold paint is extended to the paddle shifters, along with a centre band and pin-striping of the same colour to the steering wheel and the spokes.

The McLaren 720S is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine capable of a 0 to 200 km/h time of 7.8 seconds, before topping out at a top speed of 341 km/h.
