All-new Volkswagen Polo scores full 5-Star EURO NCAP rating! [+Video]

Volkswagen’s most compact hatchback, the sixth-generation Polo has just been awarded maximum 5-Star safety rating at the Euro NCAP Crash Test. Thanks to a suite of advanced driver assistance systems – standard on all variants, new platform architecture and overall body rigidity, the Polo sets a new benchmark for safety in its segment.

In the “Adult Occupants” segment, the Polo scored an impressive 96 per cent (of a maximum 100 per cent). The examiners were particularly impressed by its side impact rating noting that “the protection of all critical body areas is good, and the Polo attained maximum points”. This is an impressive feat because despite its compact design, the Polo manages to retain its overall structure remarkably well. Jump to the 1:20 mark and see for yourself.

Another notable mention is the “Child Occupant” segment where the Polo scored 85 per cent – the highest score ever awarded for a supermini. Elsewhere, it scored 76 per cent for Pedestrian Protection and 59 per cent for Safety Assist.

As standard, the Polo is equipped with six airbags, ESC, Automatic Post-Collision Braking System and Front Assist area monitoring system with City Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Monitoring. Yes, even on the cheapest model.

We should be expecting the all-new Volkswagen Polo to arrive our shores in due course to replace the outgoing model. Heres hoping that when the car lands in Malaysia, it gets the same equipment as its European counterpart.
