Mitsubishi Shogun Sport (Pajero) launched in UK, 2.4L diesel & 8-spd auto

Mitsubishi Motors UK has just introduced the all-new Mitsubishi Shogun Sport or for the rest of us, the all-new Pajero Sport. The Shogun Sport will be Mitsubishi’s second major model launch in the UK following the arrival of the Eclipse Cross in January 2018.

Slotting above the Outlander, the Shogun Sport is a direct competitor to the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest and Isuzu MU-X – a body-on-frame seven-seater SUV engineered for superior off-road performance. At launch, the Shogun Sport will be offered in two variants, both featuring leather upholstery, keyless entry and start and Mitsubishi Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA).

Motivation comes from a sole 2.4-litre aluminium MIVEC turbodiesel engine producing 179 hp and 430 Nm of torque – the same one found on our local Triton. Transmission of choice is an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission that is said to return 17 percent better fuel economy.

The Shogun Sport comes with Mitsubishi’s Super Select II AWD, allowing drivers to cycle between two or four-wheel drive. Standard specifications include Hill Descent Control, Trailer Start Assist (TSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and dedicated Off-Road mode. The range-topping variant further adds advanced safety features such as Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and 360-degree Multi-around Monitor System (MMS).
