As you may have already digested, the new F90 BMW M5 is a real hectic piece of machinery. With over 600 hp and 750 Nm of torque on the taps from its 4.4-litre V8 TwinPower Turbo engine, it takes a mere 3.4 seconds to propel to 100 km/h from standstill.
Now BMW has offered a range of M Performance aerodynamic components made from elaborately-handcrafted, lightweight carbon fibre. They include newly-designed front air scoops, side sill attachments, a carbon fibre rear spoiler, a carbon fibre rear spoiler Pro and a rear diffuser.
Enhancements aren’t just limited to the visuals but also goes beyond skin deep. A new BMW M Performance coilover suspension has been developed with an even sportier setup with adjustable spring plates and red coil springs for visual enticement.
If those standard M compound brakes on the standard M5 aren’t enough for you, although unlikely, BMW now offers carbon ceramic brakes with sport disc pads for additional stopping power, improved brake response as well as higher thermal resistance.
Part of the offerings also include a new M Performance sports exhaust system, where the muffler is made from titanium with carbon fibre tailpipes. Unfortunately, they’re exclusive only to the USA and Canada.
Equipment wise, the M Performance Drive Analyser offered is derived from motorsports – an innovative tool for recording and evaluating all important vehicle dynamics data. All the driving data acquired, including use of accelerator and brakes, engine speed etc can be transferred to your smartphone via the M Performance Drive Analyser App – free to BMW customers.
If that’s not enough for you to bask on your exciting drive, the M Performance range also offers the Trackfix action camera holder which can be mounted in the towing lug either at the front or rear of the car. At the engine bay, the M Performance carbon fibre engine cover extension kit adds more visual zing to the physical forces of the V8 powerplant.
At the cockpit, the M Performance range offers a grippy steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara, attached with a carbon fibre steering wheel cover. Shift paddles are also made of carbon fibre along with the gear lever cover. M Performance floor mats and M Performance LED logo projectors are other additions to the interior that exemplifies BMW’s motorsport design and functionality.
