Audi Sport appoints new Head, 5 new Audi Sport models by 2020!

Audi Sport GmbH (Audi Sport) has gotten a new captain as of 1st October. Oliver Hoffmann succeeds Stephan Reil as Head of Technical Development and will be responsible for future product strategy of Audi’s performance sub-brand. Most notably, the 40-year-old intends to increase Audi Sport series production model from 11 to 16 by 2020.

A little background of Audi Sport’s new boss; Hoffman was previously employed as quality management at Lamborghini and has been involved in the development of the 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 resting underneath the shell of the R8 supercar. He was trained in mechanical engineering during his academic years.

“With the appointment of Oliver Hoffmann, we have gained a highly qualified manager for the Technical Development division,” says Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Audi Sport GmbH. “With his experience and skills, Hoffmann will help to realise the expansion of the Audi Sport brand.”

No further details of what is to come of the rivals from AMG and M division, but if our previous report holds water, we may see more hybrid and rear-wheel drive options just like the recently launched (albeit in limited numbers) Audi R8 RWS V10. Audi Malaysia also has plans to introduce the high-performance brand locally, though the plan seems to be delayed a little.
