Kia Stinger on sale in UK, 3.3L V6 priced from RM228k, Malaysian debut soon?

Our friends over in the UK has finally received Kia’s first Grand Turismo and first rear-wheel drive car, the Kia Stinger. Available in three turbocharged engines (two petrol and one diesel), UK customers will have three different trim lines to choose from.

In the UK, the base Stinger is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo T-GDI that outputs 244 hp and 353 Nm of torque. For those who are keen on a high-output mill but frequently crunch up long-distance mileage, the 2.2-litre turbodiesel CRDi with 197 hp and 440 Nm of torque should be the perfect fit. But the holy grail will have to be the 3.3-litre turbocharged V6 that churns out 365 hp and 510 Nm of torque, allowing the Stinger to complete the century sprint in 4.9 seconds.

Transfer of drive to the rear-wheels on all engine choices is handled by an eight-speed speed slush box. The eight-speed auto features five different shift and throttle programmes with the option of full manual control on the paddle shifters. A limited slip differential is available across the board while the range topping GT S gets electronic suspension which can be cycled to five driving modes.

Telling the three trim lines apart are the projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights on the base GT-Line while the higher-grade GT-Line S and GT-S gets full LED items. The two lower variants ride on 18-inch alloys while the GT-S gets upsized to 19-inches. The GT-S also can be told apart by its Brembo brakes.

As standard, all UK-bound Stinger will feature 8.0-inch touchscreen navigation system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, leather upholstery (black, grey or red), eight-way powered front seats with memory function and wireless charging tray.

Stepping up to the mid-range GT-Line S, it adds on 360-degree surround view camera, ventilated front seats, heated outer rear seats, powered tailgate and 15-speaker Harman/Kardon surround sound system. Only the most expensive GT-S comes with Nappa leather upholstery.

Standard safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Driver Attention Warning and Speed Limit Information. GT-Line S and GT-S trims gets additional Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

UK customers can have their Kia Stinger to be finished in Sunset Yellow, Pearl White, Midnight Black, Ceramic Silver, HiChroma Red and Panthera Metal. Prices for the new Grand Turismo starts from £31,995 (RM180k) to £40,495 (RM228k) with deliveries starting in early 2018.
