Mitsubishi’s “new Evolution” may not run on petrol anymore

No no no no no…this is unlikely a replacement for the last Lancer Evolution X that was last rolled out a few years ago – this does not in any way indicate the return of the Lancer Evolutions we all loved growing up. This follows after recent announcements that Mitsubishi has joined the Alliance of Nissan and Renault.

Mitsubishi Motors will instead be projecting the brand’s future direction with an exciting premier of the Mitsubishi e-EVOLUTION CONCEPT at upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. It will be the first model to bear the Evolution name since it was discontinued with the Evo X.

Details have been scarce at the moment, but it will adopt Mitsubishi’s signature 4WD electric drivetrain with “advanced Artificial Intelligence technology“. Sporty credentials should be expected as Mitsubishi described it to be of a low-slung, highly-aerodynamic SUV Coupé shape.

More details will follow as Mitsubishi announces what will be its new flagship concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of October.
