All-new Ford Fiesta awarded full 5-Stars in Euro NCAP! [+Video]

The all-new seventh-generation Ford Fiesta has just been awarded the maximum 5-Star safety rating at the Euro NCAP, proving once again that small cars can be big on safety too. The all-new Fiesta which went on sale in Europe recently, is equipped with a suite of driver assistance systems which helped the small hatchback’s 5-star score.

The model tested was equipped with the full range of driver assistance system which includes enhanced Ford Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), Lane Keeping Aid, Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High Beam, Blind Spot Information System, Cross Traffic Alert, Distance Indication, Driver Alert, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition. Yep, all these in a Fiesta.

Besides the range of driver assistance system, the all-new Fiesta features an overall stronger body thanks to 36 percent more boron steel for greater strength in key areas, new T-Section configuration to transfer side impact more effectively and redesigned door cross sections. All these helped the Fiesta to score 87 percent in the adult occupant category, 84 percent in child occupant category, 64 percent in pedestrian category and 60 percent in safety assist category.

“The latest Euro NCAP safety standards are more stringent than ever, with new emphasis placed on technologies that can help drivers avoid accidents,” said Ford of Europe, Vice President of Product Development, Joe Bakaj. “Fiesta can now help steer drifting drivers back into lane, and can monitor the road ahead up to the length of a football pitch – helping drivers detect and avoid hazards for safer journeys.” he added.
