The high-tech, futuristic Hyundai IONIQ has now got a new upgrade – it now comes with a voice to compliment its brains. There’s a but though, it will be offered in a separate variant from the initial two launched last year.
Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has announced that the previously reviewed IONIQ will now come with an advanced Audio Visual Navigation (AVN) system. Built around the Android operating system, the 8-inch AVN system comes with an array of functions and applications including:
- Music – Radio, MP3 playback, Spotify app
- Convenience – Built-in Bluetooth wireless communication and phonebook transfer as well as My Hyundai app to place a service booking or call for 24 hours road assistance
- Navigation apps with Waze and Google Maps installed
- Clock and Weather widgets that are updated via Wifi
The AVN system, with iOS and Android compatibility, also supports standalone applications such as Spotify, Waze and Google Maps so as to not disrupt incoming phone calls. The new system also comes with a 3-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first).
With that, HSDM now offers a third variant to supplement its two current models; the IONIQ Hybrid HEV at RM 100,388, the IONIQ Hybrid HEV Plus at RM 114,088 and lastly the IONIQ HEV Plus with AVN System at RM 116,488. All prices are excluding insurance.
Existing IONIQ customers can opt for this upgrade by trading in their existing head unit and topping up the difference. With that, the already tech-packed IONIQ, now offers the full monty of driver assistance and safety systems which is sure to shame vehicles twice it’s asking price. The list of features included in the current models consists of the Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Front and Rear Parking System, a seven-airbag system and the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Features that are exclusive to the HEV Plus variant include Wireless Charging System for Smartphones, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEB), Smart Cruise Control System (SCC), and a Rain Sensor.
