2017 Isuzu MU-X launched, with interior, exterior and safety upgrades

Isuzu Malaysia today has launched the new 2017 Isuzu MU-X here in MAEPS, Serdang. Available in 4×2 and 4×4 configuration, the seven-seater has undergone changes in aesthetics, received upgrades for both interior, exterior along with enhanced safety.

Key upgrades include a new facade in the front with blue spectrum bi-LED projector headlamps, 6 airbags, refined trims on the interior, 18-inch wheels together with the introduction of the new Havana Brown colour.

Along with the bi-LED projector headlamps, the front end of the new MU-X also comes with LED daytime running lights while the redesigned headlamps also comes with an auto-leveling feature that keeps light projection at an optimum. Provided with front fog lamps, a pair new rear fog lamps are incorporated to complement the LED combination tail lights. Both variants are equipped with the Passive Entry & Start (PESS) system.

The mu-X puts out 136 hp with 320 Nm of torque from the proven 2.5-litre VGS Intercooler Turbo diesel engine. It retains the “Shift-on-the-fly” Terrain Command system allowing effortless shifts to 2WD, 4WD High and 4WD Low, providing optimum traction for any given road surface – a feature not available in the 4×2 variant.

The interior of the MU-X has been visibly improved for comfort and luxury with wooden and “soft-surface” trims at the door and dashboard. More notably, the dash now also comes with a new electroluminescent meter panel (e-LUMAX) with Multi-Information Display (MID). Use of new refined quilt pattern leather, a 6-way electric-adjustable only for the driver seat, automatic air-conditioning and rear vents with speed control for the second and the third row are among the creature comforts in the mu-X’s interior.

It doesn’t fall short in on-board entertainment as well; you get 8-speakers to accompany the 8-inch touchscreen DVD alongside a fold down monitor for back row passengers. The 4×2 variant would not be provided with the fold down monitor and comes with a 7-inch screen instead. Reverse camera with Parking Guide is available in both variants, alongside 4 reverse sensors.

New to the MU-X is the Hill Descent Control (HDC), allowing smoother and controlled hill descents, as the name suggests. The system which works for both up and downhills, allows the driver to adjust the vehicle speed in accordance with slope conditions, within a speed of 30 km/h or less.

Safety features have been enhanced with 6 SRS airbags, ABS, Traction Control, ESC, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist and Hill Start Assist.

The new Isuzu MU-X is priced at RM 176, 640.40 for the 4×2 and RM 183,000.40 for the 4×4 variant. It will be available in four colours; the new Havana Brown Mica, Silky White Pearl, Titanium Silver and Cosmic Black Mica. It comes with a 5-year Unlimited Mileage warranty which varies according to variants alongside the Isuzu Doctor Mobile 24-hour assistance service.
