Toyota C-HR appears on Toyota Malaysia website – 1.8L, CVT; 4WD a possibility?

Shortly after its public debut two months ago, the long awaited Toyota C-HR has finally went live on UMW Toyota Malaysia’s official website along with some key specifications! We now know that it’s going to be powered by the 1.8-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), “full range” of safety features and six colour options.

Curiously, the web URL has “4wd” in it, hinting that it may actually be all-wheel driven! What remains unclear now is whether or not UMW will introduce the 1.8-litre hybrid. On the safety front, our C-HR will come with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) that should be bundled with Blind Spot Monitoring. Further details of Toyota Safety Sense still remain a corporate secret.

On the outside, you can expect no less than six exterior shades – White Pearl CS, Metal Stream Metallic, Attitude Black while Red Mica, Radiant Green Metallic and Blue Metallic will come with a blacked out roof. UMW has also equipped the C-HR with side mirror puddle light, follow-me-home headlamps and a “luxurious interior”.

Order books for the C-HR are not opened just yet, so you have to hold on to your cheque books for now. There’s no word on pricing for now, but if it were to be fully imported, it will cost upwards of RM170k. Nevertheless, stay tuned for the latest updates on the hottest crossover to come!
