SpyBuzz: Fourth-gen Renault Megane RS leaked in patent filings

The battle of the hot hatches is set to intensify with yet another entry from France – the fourth-generation Renault Megane RS. Leaked here are patented renderings from World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), giving us a glimpse of how the Civic Type R rival will shape to look like.

To begin, the Megane RS looks suitably more aggressive than the standard variant, and for good measure. The front wheel arches get air curtains while the rear gets diffusers, roof spoiler and a large central exhaust. The front headlights and the ‘chequered flag’ LED fog lamps are identical to the camouflaged version we previously saw in Monaco.

Here’s a brief summary of what we know about this hot hatch so far. There will be two variants on offer, beginning with the Sport followed by the more focussed Cup version. Four-wheel steering (4Control system) will be fitted as well, whereas an electromagnetic actuator located at the rear axle will be tasked to improve agility and stability.

As for enthusiasts, the Renault Megane RS can be had with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic. Only the engine part remains a mystery for now. The good news is, the Megane RS will be making its world debut in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show
