All MINI cars updated for 2017, new instrument cluster and safety upgrades

MINI has just updated its entire model lineup with a range of new design, functionality and infotainment improvements from July 2017 onwards.

Starting from the MINI Clubman and Countryman, Apple CarPlay will be available for customers opting for the Media Pack XL and MINI Tech Pack. Connected to the 8.8-inch MINI Central Display, passengers will be able to access iPhone apps such as the BFM official iPhone App via the MINI Touch Controller or the touchscreen.

All MINI models will benefit from a swankier instrument cluster that offers better clarity (the standard one is already impressively crisp) and enhanced graphics display. Cabin buttons and dials now get white illumination instead of orange. This new colour scheme is also applied onto the Heads-Up Display (HUD). Besides that, a new fuel level display on the right section of the instrument cluster offers improved precision and clearer display.

Switching between drive modes is now easier with a new toggle switch positioned underneath the climate controls. HUD settings will be accessed from a separate menu in the MINI operating system as well. Owners can now store individual height settings for the HUD, wing mirror adjustment and powered seats adjustment in the personal profile on the vehicle key.

Alertness assistant – a safety feature that reminds drivers to take a break when erratic driving is detected – will be introduced to the MINI 3 Door, 5 Door and Convertible. This however, is a cost option for the MINI Visual Boost screen, MINI Navigation or MINI Navigation XL package. Again, it’s only available from July onwards.

Locally, MINI Malaysia has just introduced the second-generation MINI Countryman as well as the updated MINI 3 Door and 5 Door that come with enhanced equipment. In case you are not aware, you can now own a MINI from RM1,348 a month with MINI Full Circle Financing Programme.
