F22 BMW 2 Series gets a facelift, lightly redesigned but with greater appeal

Joining the newly updated BMW 1 Series hatchback is the facelifted 2 Series coupe (F22), which will go on sale from July onwards. You can have it either as a two-door coupe or convertible.

New items here are subtle, like the marginally larger kidney grille, new LED DRL graphics and redesigned tail lamps. The two Sunset Orange and Seaside Blue also make their debut here, just like the 1 Series. The convertible comes with a powered soft-top operable at speeds up to 50 km/h.

Much like the updated 1-er, the cabin of the 2 Series gets exactly the same updates in trimmings and iDrive system. If the M2 is a little too hardcore for your liking, there’s the M240i variant that’s available for both the coupe and convertible. The 3.0-litre straight-six turbocharged engine cranks out 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque, allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.4 seconds. A choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic can be had.

Back here, BMW Malaysia is only selling the Active Tourer derivative of the 2 Series, and of course the full blown M2 beast itself. Sales of the 220i has been discontinued until further notice.
