Peugeot 308 facelift unveiled, refreshed looks with new engines

First images of the Peugeot 308 facelift appeared online back in early April, and now Groupe PSA has just unveiled the updated C-segment hatchback in full. The refreshed Pug gets sharper exterior styling and more efficient engines.

Changes on the outside are minimal to say the least. New items include the bonnet with more prominent lines, reshaped front bumper with wider lower grille and supposedly revised lighting graphics.

Inside, it doesn’t get the sleeker second-generation i-Cockpit like the 3008, instead the 9.7-inch infotainment system is upgraded to support MirrorLink, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and a faster 3D satellite navigation with TomTom real-time traffic monitoring service.

The 308 facelift is offered with the company’s latest powertrains: a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder PureTech 130 while diesel options include the BlueHDI 130 and Blue HDI 180. The Blue HDI 180 engine now comes with a newly-developed Aisin-sourced eight-speed automatic. Peugeot is also one the first automakers to meet the new Euro 6.c standards where from September 2018 onwards, Real Driving Emissions (RDE) must not exceed 2.1 times the certification figures.

On the safety front, the 308 is accredited with 5 Star Euro NCAP crash safety rating, no less. With the facelifted model, customers can opt for Active Safety Brake, Active Lane Departure Warning and adaptive cruise control for even higher levels of safety. The best news is, it will come to Malaysia!
