Renault Captur facelift gets blind spot warning and Bose sound system, all for RM86k!

Shortly after its global unveiling back in early March, the United Kingdom is among the first markets to receive the facelifted Renault Captur. Besides the cosmetic updates, UK-bound Captur gets a range of active safety features as well as a whopping 24-variant line-up.

For the UK market, two turbo petrol engines and two turbodiesel engines are available at launch, namely the 898cc TCe 90 (90 hp/140 Nm), 1.2-litre TCe 120 (120 hp/205 Nm), 1.5-litre dCi 90 (90 hp/220 Nm) and 1.5-litre dCi 110 (110 hp/260 Nm). All engines come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard but the TCe 120 and dCi 90 engines are available with the six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels as before.

Building on the crowd favourite dual-tone paintjob, Renault is offering two new body colours – Desert Orange and Ocean Blue. A new Mercury Silver roof is also made available. This gives the Captur a total of 36 colour combinations. Other new aesthetics upgrades include the C-shaped LED daytime running lights, full-LED ‘Pure Vision’ headlamps, revised front and rear bumper and new alloy wheel designs ranging from 16- to 17-inch in size.

Inside, seven interior colour themes can be selected, from Ivory, Blue, Caramel, Red, Bronze-tinted Chrome, Satin Chrome and Smoked Chrome. The updated cabin benefits from higher quality materials and new seat designs that produce more support and comfort. A range of multimedia systems are specified depending on variant, including a 7-inch R-LINK touchscreen with Android Auto and six-speaker Bose Sound System. All variants except for the entry-level variant can be specified with a fixed glass roof.

As standard, all variants of the facelifted Captur come with six-airbags, ABS with BA, Electronic Stability Control, Electronic Traction Control, cruise control, speed limiter and Hill Start Assist. The Captur has Euro NCAP’s maximum five-star crash safety rating. The facelifted Captur also comes with Blind Spot Warning and Hands-Free Parking (auto parking) function on models from Dynamique S Nav and above.

Prices for the facelifted Renault Captur in the UK starts at £15,355 (RM86k) while the range topping model retails at £23,145 (RM129k). Closer to home, TC Euro Cars has just introduced the locally-assembled pre-facelift Captur. It’s only a matter of time before the facelifted Captur makes it way here as a CKD unit, no less.
