First appeared in the confines of Mazda Glenmarie two months ago, the Mazda MX-5 RF is finally launched in Malaysia. Pricing begins at RM235,898.80 for the six-speed manual, whereas the six-speed auto variant costs RM241,198.80.
Both are generously and identically specced, receiving items such as full LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, LED combination tail lamps, lightweight 17-inch alloys (with 205/45 R17 tyres) and electronically powered retractable hardtop (folds in 13 seconds). Inside is also fully specced with leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, 9-speaker Bose surround sound audio system and four airbags.

Power comes from a longitudinally mounted 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, making 158 hp and 200 Nm of torque. All that is sent to the rear wheels. The difference in weight between the auto and manual is just 26 kg; the automatic weighs 1,138 kg while the manual weighs 1,112 kg.
The Mazda MX-5 RF is fully imported from Japan and can be had in four different exterior colours: Soul Red Metallic, Jet Black, Crystal White Pearl and the brand new Machine Grey finish. Mazda Malaysia is giving a 5-years manufacturer’s warranty and 3-years or 60,000km free maintenance package.
