The Renault RS 2027 Vision F1 car looks like it came straight out of Tron [+Video]

The pinnacle of motorsports, Formula One, undergoes massive technological advances every year. But have we ever stopped to wonder how future F1 cars will look like? Well, this Renault RS 2027 Vision could be it, and it is simply breathtaking.

Developed by Renault Sport division (overseers of their F1 team), the RS 2027 Vision appears to come straight off a certain Japanese anime. It gets the brand’s signature C-shaped LED lights up front and the driver will be cocooned in a closed cockpit. The ultra-resistant polycarbonate cockpit will serve to protect the driver in the event of an accident.

The one thing that’s shared with current F1 cars is the turbocharged V6 powertrain mated with two units of energy recovery system. In total, this machine cranks out 1,341 hp, approximately 350 hp more than the outgoing F1 cars. It tips the scale at just 600 kg!

Conversely, the fuel tank is shrunk to half of today’s capacity, but this is overcome by incorporating higher density batteries. Renault predicts that the future of F1 cars will be all-wheel drive and use four-wheel steering for even more dramatic corner-carving manoeuvres.

Is anyone else as excited as I am for the future of motor racing?
