This Toyota FT-4X is a hipster’s dream come true

Among the seemingly infinite range of Toyota cars that are not available in Malaysia, one model particularly stands out – the Toyota FJ Cruiser. The funky and retro-looking SUV is currently on sale in limited quantities via parallel importers, but the model is actually a decade old.

Which brings us to this, the Toyota FT-4X concept. Designed by Toyota’s California Calty studio, the new SUV is aimed at the young and active demographic. Just like the FJ Cruiser, the boxy body is retained, but the level of ruggedness is much higher.

It rides on Toyota’s new global C-Platform architecture which underpins the popular C-HR. However, the FT-4X is much roomier and sits on 18-inch wheels wrapped with off-road tyres. Nothing of the oily bits have been revealed to this day, unfortunately.

The big question now is, will the Toyota FT-4X concept be a reality? According to CarAdvice, the odds are good because it is 75 percent ready for production. Perhaps a more relevant question is, will Malaysians finally get their hands on this from the showroom floors of UMW Toyota?
