Toyota Malaysia recalls 42,000 cars over potentially faulty Takata airbag



UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia is expanding its recall exercise, or in UMW’s terms – Special Service Campaign (SSC) for the replacement of front passenger side airbag inflator modules.

A total of 42,000 vehicles manufactured between May 2010 to December 2012 are involved in this SSC. Cars involved include:

Corolla Altis 2010 – 2012
Vios
Yaris
Alphard

All models affected are distributed by UMW Toyota. The company is working closely with Toyota Motor Corporation to obtain the replacement parts as soon as possible. In time, UMW Toyota will inform owners directly to bring their cars to an authorised Toyota Service Centre to make the necessary replacement. All costs involved will be borne by UMW Toyota.
