Lexus NX facelift to debut in a month’s time, features sexy new headlights

Lexus is set to unveil the facelifted NX SUV at the Shanghai Motor Show next month. The NX is currently the smallest SUV in the Lexus range (until the UX takes that place) and has been around since late 2014. It’s now time for a successor.

This single, super futuristic teaser of the NX’s new headlamps show a much more streamlined design, but still retaining the boomerang shaped LED DRLs. Also retained but redesigned is the Spindle grille. The interior is expected to be updated as well. Overall, it’s going to be a small yet distinctive update to the SUV which hasn’t even shown signs of ageing!

Lexus Malaysia just recently launched the NX Special Edition

Nothing is mentioned on the mechanical bits, but judging from the recent IS facelift, power outputs should remain the same. The two same engines will continue propulsion duties; a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with twin scroll turbo and VVT-iW producing 235 hp and 350 Nm of torque, as well as a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder mill making 197 horsepower. A six-speed automatic is paired with the 2.0-litre turbo, while the hybrid settles for an e-CVT.

The updated Lexus NX, together with the new LS 500h, will headline Lexus’ booth at the Shanghai Motor Show which begins on 21 April 2017.
