Volkswagen Malaysia still eager to introduce GTE (plug-in hybrid) models

Remember that episode a little over two years back when Volkswagen Group Malaysia previewed three electrified cars, the e-Up!, Passat GTE (B8) and Golf GTE? That particular stunt generated tremendous hype, but plans came to a grinding halt following several PR disasters that took place after.

Thankfully, someone’s willing to pick up the baton and complete the race. Under the new stewardship of Porsche Holding Salzburg (PHS) – officially known here as Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia, it seems that there is still hope for those interested in owning a locally assembled plug-in hybrid Volkswagen.

Will we get the VW Tiguan GTE one day? Quite possibly, really…

Although the affirmation comes without specifying models nor revealing a detailed roadmap, VPCM’s Managing Director, Erik Winter said, “The company’s focus this year is not so much on sales volume. That is without a doubt one of our main objectives, but the priority this time around is to rebuild the brand image.”

Behind closed doors, VPCM, together with Deenan Nadar (new Aftersales Director) and all authorised distributors are working full steam to revamp customer ownership experience.
