Lamborghini has proudly revealed its latest lightweight supercar, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. Just last week, the Huracan Performante became the fastest production car to lap the Nürburgring, and it was a good 3 seconds ahead of the Aventador SV!
With a time of 6 minutes and 52.01 seconds, there are a few good reasons how it managed such a blistering feat. First, the Huracan Performante weighs just 1,382kg, approximately 40kg lighter than the standard version. Its newfound aerodynamic kit, comprised of a huge rear spoiler, new front bumper and rear diffuser, are all made from lightweight carbon-fibre and aluminium construction.
It also benefits from active aerodynamics seductively called Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva. The flaps actively vary its angle at all speeds to optimise downforce and stability.
The naturally-aspirated V10 has been given a power bump, with final outputs reading at 640 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, which is the same as the standard Huracan LP 610. The century sprint takes just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 325km/h.
Complementing the added power is a set of stiffer suspension and new 20-inch wheels wrapped with Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubbers. The grippier Pirelli Trofeo R (a street-legal racing tyres) which was used during the Nürburgring record run can be had as an option. Stopping power comes from ventilated and cross-drilled carbon ceramic discs for all four corners, with six-piston callipers at the front and four-piston callipers at the rear.
As expected with track special machines, the interior is draped with carbon fibre and Alcantara trimmings. The same digital cockpit is retained, however all else can be individually personalised to each customer’s tastes through the Lamborghini “Ad Personam” Program.
The 2017 Lamborghini Huracan Performante has a starting price of £210,000 (approximately RM1.14 million), making it the most expensive Huracan available for public purchase to date. That’s a lot of performance for not a whole lot of money, because the slower Porsche 918 (around the Green Hell that is) costs three times more!
