Volkswagen Arteon positioned as premium grand tourer, sits above Passat

Scheduled to make its world debut at Geneva is Volkswagen’s latest luxury grand tourer (also known as gran turismo), the Volkswagen Arteon.

The fastback-styled four-door saloon will get a completely new front end, flanked by full LED headlights and integrated daytime running lights. What’s unique with the Arteon is the way the grille “flows” into the headlamps, much like the new Tiguan except with more aggression.

Volkswagen claims that the Arteon’s cabin boasts exceptional spaciousness, with ample head and legroom for all passengers. It’s always a challenge trying to maximise interior space in any fastback grand tourer (except if you’re Bentley or Maybach, which is in an entirely different league), although Volkswagen hasn’t revealed the exact footprint for the Arteon as yet.

Other debuting features include Volkswagen’s latest generation of driver assistance systems, some of which are typically reserved for high-end luxury vehicles. The Wolfsburg carmaker also said “the Arteon is the amalgamation of avant-garde design and immense versatility. Together with all its features, it will undoubtedly be one of the most attractive products in its segment.”

The Volkswagen Arteon will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show which swings into action from 9 to 19 March 2017.
