Feature: Five things you need to know about the Honda City facelift

The Honda City is no doubt Honda Malaysia’s most popular car. The sheer number of them on the road can attest to that. In fact, it’s so popular that it dethroned the all-conquering Toyota Vios as segment leader to become the most popular B-Segment car in Malaysia!

With the imminent launch of the Honda City facelift, here are five things that you need to know about the car.

1. Full LED headlamps and LED fog lamps

Yes, that’s right. Forward illumination source is LED for both the headlamps and fog lamps, just like the Honda Civic FC. The Mazda2 was the first B-Segment car to come with full LED headlamps, but the Honda City will be the first to feature LED fog lamps.

2. Brand new front grille

Previously, it had a large Platinum Grille which divided opinion. On the facelifted model, it gets a much sleeker Honda Solid Wing grille with honeycomb inserts, just like that of the Civic FB. The grille also extends to the headlamp housing like the Civic FC.

3. Dual tone alloys

According to Honda Malaysia, all variants (three in total) of the City will feature dual-tone alloy design. The one pictured here measures 16-inch in size and wrapped in 195/55 profile Goodyear Excellence tyres. Lower range variants will most likely be fitted with 15-inch in size like the pre-facelift line-up.

4. LED combination tail lamps

Like the JDM Honda Grace, our local-spec City will get LED combination tail lamps. The two-bar design looks so much more premium than the ones before. No need for the grotesque Lexus-esque aftermarket pair now, eh?

5. ESC standard across the board

Previously, ESC or in Honda terms, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) was only available for the top two variants. Now, Honda Malaysia will have this essential safety feature equipped on all variants as standard.

If by this point you’re sold and are determined to get yourself a brand new ride, Honda Malaysia has already opened the order books. This means the facelifted Honda City will be launched very, very soon! No prices were announced but the pre-facelift model was priced between RM76k to RM91k. As usual, watch this space for the full launch report!
