Peugeot 208 GTi facelift launched in Malaysia, CBU, priced at RM144k!

Not long after the arrival of the facelifted Peugeot 208 PureTech comes its hotter equivalent, the 208 GTi. The 2017 Peugeot 208 GTi packs a tad more power but comes at a slight increase in price.

As facelifts go, the GTi gets a new front grille and headlamps, whereas the rear gets a pair of redesigned tail lamps with the signature tri-bar claw graphics. It runs on a new set of 17-inch “Carbone” wheels that’s finished in two contrasting tones. Inside, the seats are upholstered in Club Nappa leather with Caro Weave fabric, complementing the sporty theme.

Part of this facelift repertoire includes the same 1.6-litre THP (Turbo High Pressure) engine, but power is up by 8 hp and 25 Nm over the older model. The new figures are 208 hp and 300 Nm! There’s only a six-speed manual gearbox available, which drives the front wheels. The century sprint is now completed in 6.5 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds quicker than before, whereas top speed is rated at 230 km/h.

In the safety department, the 208 GTi gets Peugeot’s latest version of Electronic Stability Program that detects initial signs of wheel slip. Also equipped are six airbags, ISOFIX,  ABS, EBD and the regular suite of three-lettered acronym.

Due to the weakening of our currency, the 2017 Peugeot 208 GTi receives a RM4,000 bump in its sticker price, costing a good RM143,888. Two colours are available: Digital White or Rogue Red. Each purchase comes with a 5-Year or 120,000km manufacturer’s warranty, whichever comes first.
