The Protonic editions of the BMW i8 isn’t exactly new, but they have went on to add two more colours to the unique lineup – Frozen Black and Frozen Yellow. The new duo joins other Protonic offerings of the past – Ionic Silver, Crystal White, Sophisto Grey, Protonic Blue and Protonic Red.
Besides the obvious new colours, they both have bespoke interior styling that adds to the allure of this electrifying sports car. Mechanically, the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is retained, and it is paired to an electric motor. The hybrid powertrain generates 362 hp and 570 Nm of torque, and it is capable of a 4.4-second century sprint.
The BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Black will take centre stage at BMW’s stand at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, while the Frozen Yellow will be available later this year.
