New Nissan Z Concept planned, Fairlady revival with 500 hp?

For many years the Nissan GT-R stole much of the Z’s thunder. However, the scales could tip in favour of the Z as the 370Z’s successor is scheduled for a worldwide debut as soon as 2019! Before that, a prototype, the new Nissan Z Concept will make its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Nissan said the new sports car will share similar proportions as the outgoing car and will still sport that familiar, unmistakable fascia and silhouette. Apparently, he new Z could potentially share the latest turbocharged powertrains from Infiniti, one of them being the world’s first variable compression engine.

On the flip side, several sources have also revealed that the company’s flagship 3.0-litre V6 will take centre stage, and this will be paired with an electric motor to produce up to 500 horsepower! Expect a twin-clutch setup here, possibly with seven cogs.

The Z, also known as the Fairlady to many loyalists, has had a significant history. The 240Z was a legend on its own, one that transformed opinions and gained worldwide popularity for its then stunning design and unadulterated performance. It took many years for Nissan to reintroduce the Z with such flair and success (which they did with the 350Z). The Nissan Z Concept will make its appearance at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year.
