2017 Porsche Panamera and 718 Cayman coming to Malaysia by 1H 2017!

For the past 36 months, Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) launched the highly popular Macan SUV, the hypercar 918 Spyder and the utterly mad 911 GT3 RS. During the launch of the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, CEO of SDAP, Arnt Bayer revealed the inevitable – the Malaysian introduction of the second-generation Panamera and the 718 Boxster’s twin, the 718 Cayman.

The Panamera can be had with a 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo with 326 hp, 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo with 434 hp as well as a 4.0-litre V8 twin turbo with 542 hp. The diesel variant packs a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 turbodiesel  up front, making 416 hp and 850 Nm of torque.2017 Porsche Panamera - AutoBuzz.my

For the environmentally conscious, the Panamera is also available with an E-Hybrid variant that comes with a 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo and an electric motor to generate a total output of 462 hp and 700 Nm. Bayer did not specify which variant we will be receiving, but it’s safe to say that the three petrol variants will make their way here. The question now is, will SDAP bring in the E-Hybrid, the diesel-powered Panamera, and the stretched Panamera Executive? Regardless, we sure are looking forward to witness the futuristic rear wing in action!

Meanwhile, like the 718 Boxster, the 718 Cayman will most likely be introduced in two variants – Cayman and Cayman S. The regular Cayman packs a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo unit pushing out 300 hp and 380 Nm while the hotter Cayman S packs a 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo producing 350 hp and 420 Nm of torque. If the Cayman GT4 is too far of a stretch and you’re not the type who likes wind in your hair, the 718 Cayman couldn’t come sooner.

SDAP also hinted at “other models in the pipeline” without revealing further details. Perhaps the Performance Pack for the Macan?
