Mercedes-Benz Malaysia ends 2016 with record sales of 11,779 units!

Another year, another record smashed for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM). In 2016, MBM led the premium brand sector with a 2.4 percent market share, sold the highest number of cars, serviced 108,226 vehicles and achieved the Highest Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) score in history.

Back in 2015, when MBM announced that they have sold 10,845 units, it was preposterous to even think that they can outperform themselves amidst an increasingly challenging economy climate. But they have done it by shifting a total of 11,779 units, charting a nine percent growth compared to the previous year! Let’s take a look at the break down:

  1. W205 C-Class CKD – 4,762 units
  2. W212 E-Class CBU – 2,034 units
  3. W222 S-Class CKD – 954 units
  4. X205 GLC – 1,421 units
  5. GLE & GLE Coupe – 250 units
  6. S-Coupe, C-Coupe, CLS, E-Coupe & AMG GT S – 301 units in total
  7. W176 A-Class – 1,034 units
  8. B-Class – 73 units
  9. GLA – 571 units
  10. CLA – 638 units2017 Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Record Sales for 2016

The first half of 2016 saw them shifting 6,017 units, and they went on to sell 5,762 cars in the second half. This strong growth was driven by the 17 vehicle launches (all-new and facelift models included) in 2016 as well as the eight locally assembled vehicles (C180 Avantgarde, C200 Avantgarde, C200 Exclusive, C250 AMG, C350e, E-Class, S400h and GLC250 4MATIC).

On the global front, Mercedes-Benz recorded double digit growth of 11.3 percent worldwide, with the C-Class being the brand’s best-selling model. The strongest performing country for Mercedes-Benz in the Asia-Pacific region was South Korea, charting a 25 percent year-on-year growth.
