2017 Peugeot 2008 facelift launched in Malaysia, 1.2L turbo, RM110k

When Nasim launched the 2008 back in 2014, it was literally in a class of its own. At a time before the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3 were even here, Peugeot had a tough time selling the idea of a crossover to Malaysians. Maybe this time the Pug has a better fighting chance.

Like before, the 2008 is available in just one variant. It gets minor updates inside and out like the 208 facelift and shares the same turbocharged 1.2-litre engine. Priced at RM110k, could this French kid give the Japanese a run for its money? Let’s find out.2016 Peugeot 2008 Preview in Malaysia

Under the hood, it gets a new 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder PureTech that produces a healthy 110 hp and 205 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels via an Aisin sourced six-speed slush box. If you’re concerned that this puny 1.2-litre might not be sufficient to carry its own weight, mind you that the larger displacement CX-3 only pushes out 204 Nm.

Armed with an auto start/stop function, the 2008 has a fuel economy rating of 4.8 litres per 100 km and is said to be able to cover over 1,000 km in a single tank of fuel.2016 Peugeot 2008 Preview in Malaysia

First 100 buyers of the 2008 will also receive a 3-Year service package.
