Audi’s first order of business for 2017 is a substantially upscale venture. Debuting at the Detroit Motor Show next month is the Audi Q8 Concept which the company claims will unlock a new segment for the full-size luxury SUV category.
The Q8 is Audi’s fifth Q model, and being the top dog, it will get all the spaciousness normally associated with SUVs, combined with the emotional styling of a coupe. Think something like the GLC Coupe and you’ll have a vague idea of what to expect.
Audi’s Head of Design, Marc Lichte said the Q8 will offer an adequately spacious interior for four, even with the low roofline. Its design is reminiscent of the Ur-quattro of the 1980s, with prominent flared arches for a proper quattro appeal.
