Nasim Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of the Peugeot brand in Malaysia looks prepared to regaining the public’s confidence and customer satisfaction.
No thanks to the challenging economy in 2016, consumers are more cautious than ever with their spending. Having that in mind, the company has announced a RM5 million investment to strengthen their customer service arm. The investment will see the development of a new Technical Centre, Body & Paint Centre as well as complementary 3-Year Roadside Assistance.
In addition to that, following the successful launch of the high-tech 408 e-THP (click here to find out just how high-tech), Nasim is aiming to go on the product offensive with five model launches in 2017. Besides the B-segment hatchback and crossover (208 and 2008 facelift), we will see the launch of the all-new 3008 SUV, all-new 5008 SUV (no longer an MPV) and Traveller MPV.
Based on the limited information we have on hand, the 3008 SUV will arrive here in Malaysia with a sole engine choice, the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, all 165 hp and 240 Nm are sent to the front wheels. We recently had a spin in the all-new 3008 in Bologna and it’s a shame that the turbodiesel won’t be offered alongside the Prince.
Moving onto the 5008, the new seven-seater SUV is positioned to go against the likes of Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe. Internationally, the 5008 is available in a variety of engine ranging from 1.2-litre turbo petrol to 2.0-litre turbodiesels. We can expect Nasim to introduce either the 1.6-litre PureTech 165 petrol or the 2.0-litre BlueHDi outputting 180 hp. Perhaps both?
Lastly, the Peugeot Traveller, an upmarket MPV that’s able to accommodate up to nine passengers, will also be making its way here. It’s powered purely by Peugeot’s diesel engines, making anywhere between 95 hp to 180 hp. The diesel engines are all Euro 6 compliant. Comparable models include the Mercedes V-Class and Hyundai Grand Starex.
With the 208 and 2008 facelift set to arrive in Q1 and the 3008 1.6 THP in Q2, it seems that the guys at Peugeot Malaysia are really going all out next year.
