In an unprecedented turn of events, Volvo Car Malaysia has dropped a bomb right in the BMW 330e iPerformance‘s spotlight. The Volvo S60 T6, a 306 hp 3-Series rival had an original sticker price of RM281k, but thanks to EEV incentives granted by the government, it now costs RM238,888 β a full RM42,000 cheaper than before.
This news follows the recent price reduction of the V40 T5, XC60 T5 and XC60 T6, all of which are incentivised by the government thanks to Volvo’s newest developments in their Drive-E powertrain. Unlike its electrified counterparts (the BMW 330e and Mercedes-Benz C 350 e), the S60 T6 is powered solely by an internal combustion engine but is twincharged to produce a class’ best 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
The Swedish sedan gets an Aisin-made eight-speed automatic transmission which sends all the power to the front wheels, unlike both the aforementioned German plug-in hybrids. In case you’re wondering just how quick the S60 is, it is tied with the C 350 e in the century sprint at 5.9 seconds. The 330e iPerformance manages the same a tad slower at 6.1 seconds.
Five exterior colours can be specified; Ice White, Seashell, Ember Black, Saville Grey and Bright Silver. The Volvo S60 T6 is locally assembled at the Swedish Motor Assemblies in Shah Alam and can be widely personalised with Volvo’s selection of genuine accessories.
