Proton rewards Rio Olympians with brand new cars worth close to RM700k!



It’s an auspicious and exciting day for the Malaysian Olympic contingent as they received the keys to their brand new cars courtesy of Proton-DRB HICOM. Held at Proton’s Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam, the event was graced by Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Khairy Jamaluddin and Chef-de-Mission of the Malaysian Olympic Contingent, Tan Sri Mohamed Al-Amin Abdul Majid.

During the Rio Olympics, Proton announced their plans to reward any Olympic medallists with a brand new car. Women’s Synchronised 10m Platform Diving pair, Pandelela Rinong and Cheong Jun Hoong, Badminton Men’s Doubles pair, Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong as well as Badminton Mixed Doubles pair, Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying will all drive away in a brand new Proton Suprima S 1.6L Turbo Premium.

To celebrate Malaysia’s most successful Olympian to date, Datuk Lee Chong Wei was presented with Proton’s flagship – Proton Perdana 2.4L. Last but not the least, Azizulhasni Awang, who bagged Malaysia’s first medal in a cycling event was rewarded with the all-new Proton Persona 1.6L Premium CVT.

A total of eight Proton cars will be handed out to each of the eight medallists. The cars collectively worth about RM680,000.
