The year 2016 is a special one for Renault as they are returning to Formula One. To mark this symbolic return, TC Euro Cars (TCEC), the official distributor of Renault in Malaysia has just introduced the Renault Fluence Formula Edition.
Based on the facelifted Fluence, the Formula Edition gets a five-piece body kit with blue and red decals around the car. At the rear, a muffler cutter completes the look for the Formula One livery car. A new two-toned black alloy wheels is featured over the standard silver alloys.
On the inside, gloss black trims can be found around the cabin to give it a more exclusive look. However, the standout feature on the interior would be the Rich Maroon leather seats.
No changes are found in the mechanics. The familiar 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine that is also found in the previous-gen Nissan Sylphy is employed. Power is rated at 143 hp and 195 Nm of torque, and the engine is paired to the same Nissan-sourced X-Tronic CVT to drive the front wheels. Fuel economy is claimed to be at 7.7 litres per 100km.
The Renault Fluence Formula Edition is priced at some RM3,000 higher than the 2.0L Dynamique variant at RM126,688 (OTR without insurance). Buyers can opt for a Black Metallic or White Pearl paint scheme. It also comes with a 5-Year unlimited mileage and a 5inFLuence package which includes a 5-Year free maintenance or 100,000km, whichever comes first, one-year genuine parts warranty, complimentary pick-up service and 48-hour Mobility Solution.
