Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is in full steam, selling 6,017 cars in just 6 months!

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM), for the 16th month in a row, records their best ever month in June 2016 after selling a total of 1,203 cars. On top of that, the company’s second quarter performance also made history after they shifted a total of 3,359 cars.

MBM sold 6,017 cars during the first six months of 2016,  so let’s take a precise look at the numbers:

  1. W205 C-Class CKD – 2,534 units
  2. W212 E-Class CKD – 1,063 units
  3. W222 S-Class CKD – 549 units
  4. X205 GLC – 483 units
  5. GLE & GLE Coupe – 93 units
  6. S-Coupe, C-Coupe, CLS, E-Coupe & AMG GT S – 90 units in total
  7. W176 A-Class – 570 units
  8. GLA – 329 units
  9. CLA – 341 units

As of today, MBM is selling no less than 19 models, with seven more to come before the end of the year. We have every reason to believe that the C63 Coupe and facelifted CLA is among the seven, while the locally assembled GLC and W213 E-Class could possibly be introduced as well.

The figures above means one thing – Mercedes-Benz Malaysia maintains its lead as the premium brand in Malaysia, with a market share of 2.5 percent. MBM’s sales grew 17 percent compared to the same period last year. Other notable achievements include:

  • Servicing a record 52,700 cars in the first half of 2016 (18 percent more than 1H 2016)
  • Best Customer Satisfaction Index for After Sales (market leader)
  • 40 percent of new cars are purchased through Mercedes-Benz Financing (over RM1.5 billion)

At the rate the three-pointed star is going, it’s seems like they’re on their way to eclipsing the achievement in 2015 (sales totalling 10,845 units). This reminds us, aren’t we in the midst of a widespread economic uncertainty? Just two days ago, the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) again revised the Total Industry Volume (TIV) from 650,000 to 580,000 due to lower vehicle sales in the first half of 2016. When asked about the percentage between private and company registration, MBM withheld the figures due to confidentiality.

Interesting times, isn’t it?
