Updated Porsche Macan launched in Malaysia, more power and equipment

Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) has announced the arrival of the 2016 Porsche Macan range that has been given an update to the equipment list.

Customers can now specify the new full-LED headlamps with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) from the options list for the new Macan. By doing so they will get a pair of smart headlamps that bend in corners as well as automatically adjust the beam depending on the speed and surrounding light source detected by the on-board camera.2016-Porsche-Macan-Update-19

Equally smart is the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system inside the cabin. Accessed by the tablet-like user interface on the 7-inch touchscreen display incorporated in the dashboard, it even has a proximity sensor and allows for on-screen multi-touch selection. The PCM also supports Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The navigation system is new too, featuring 3D map, real-time traffic info, and accepts input via voice commands.2016-Porsche-Macan-Update-27

Under the clamshell bonnet, the Macan 2.0 receives a 15 hp and 20 Nm power hike, delivering a total of 252 hp at 5,000 to 6,800 rpm and 370 Nm at 1,600 to 4,500 rpm. The power increase cuts down the 0 to 100 km/h sprint time to 6.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than before. The rest of the Macan range will soldier on with their respective powerplants.

SDAP will reveal the 2016 Porsche Macan’s prices at a later date. Currently, the outgoing Macan range is priced at RM435,000 for the Macan 2.0, RM560,000 for the Macan S Diesel, RM590,000 for the Macan S and RM820,000 for the Macan Turbo.
