Lexus IS facelift teased, may debut at Beijing Motor Show

Lexus has dropped a shadowy preview of the Lexus IS compact car for the first time. The third-generation IS has been around since 2013 (followed by a powertrain upgrade thereafter), so it’s about time the sharp-looking saloon gets a makeover.

The updates are mainly aesthetics, though. Seen here are a new pair of headlights and a more chiselled front bumper, staying true to Lexus’ current design language. And as usual, Lexus’ signature spindle grille will remain in this facelift.

No mechanical changes are planned for the facelift since Lexus dropped the naturally aspirated 2.5-litre V6 last year. Hence, expect to see the 240 hp turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and all-new 8-speed Sports Direct Shift automatic to soldier on.

As tech updates are a norm with facelifts, Lexus could introduce interior updates in the form of an updated infotainment system. Apart from that, Lexus’ Remote Touch Interface could make its way with the updated IS, which allows drivers to navigate the MID (Multi-Information Display).Lexus-RX-Launch-30

Look out for more updates on the IS facelift once the Beijing Motor Show commences on 24 April 2016. Presently, Lexus Malaysia is offering four variants of the IS, beginning with the base IS 200 t  costing RM298,000, while the range topper IS 300h hybrid costs RM452,000.
