This 345hp Volvo V60 Polestar is the official safety car for 2016 WTCC



Volvo, right after acquiring tuning expert Polestar in full, has revealed that the V60 Polestar will be the official safety car for the 2016 season of World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

Based on the standard V60 Polestar, the car comes installed with a roll cage and proper communication equipments to meet stringent FIA regulations and safety car criteria. It is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine tuned by Polestar which makes 345 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The standard V60 Polestar is available with a sole six-speed automatic gearbox driving all four wheels, and it’s no different with this Swedish safety car.Volvo- v60-polestar-sc2

The hot blue wagon with shades of azure will lead a field of 20 touring cars prior to each race across twelve nations. Comparatively, a standard WTCC car (read Citroen C-Elysee, Honda Civic, Chevrolet Cruze and the all-new Volvo S60) has 380 hp produced through a 1.6-litre turbocharged units.
