Facelifted Toyota Corolla Altis revealed, set to arrive in 2017

It’s about time the eleventh-generation Toyota Corolla Altis receive a fresh new face, seeing how rapidly its rivals – the Honda Civic and Ford Focus – are progressing. These leaked images gives us a preview of what to expect from the brand’s Keen Look and Under Priority design philosophy.

Right off the bat, we can tell that the current world’s best-selling compact car will receive a redesigned front bumper. The front grille is also updated, keeping in line with other Toyota models. The front headlights look a tad slimmer in shape but really, it’s the design (with integrated LED DRLs) that gives off the illusion. Meanwhile at the back, the changes are minimal at best.2017-toyota_corolla-1

No technical details have been unveiled at this point of time, but expect Toyota to retain the 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre Dual-VVT-i engines that are powering the Corolla Altis models since the facelifted tenth-generation model. There is also a slight possibility of the Corolla benefiting from the Camry’s 6AR-FSE 2.0-litre VVT-iW engine that is used in the outgoing Camry. This should at least reduce some damage once the new Civic arrives.

The current Corolla Altis begins from RM120,900 for the 1.8E variant to RM146,900 for the 2.0V variant with additional safety package. Do watch our review video to see how competent the Corolla Altis is.
