Volkswagen Golf and Passat models receive upgrades for 2016

Following a roller coaster ride in 2015, Volkswagen plans to kick the new year off to a strong start by introducing several functional updates to the Mk7 Golf and Passat B8 models, both of which are bound for the UK.

Two brand new variants will join the Golf lineup – the Golf GT Edition and Golf R-Line Edition. The former receives over RM10,000 worth of upgrades of which include a new set of 18-inch Durban alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof. Despite the new kit, the Golf GT Edition will only be priced at about £300 more (or just under RM2,000) than the Golf GT it replaces. Similarly, the Golf R-Line Edition also benefits from the same new equipments but features a different set of wheels (18-inch Serron alloy wheels).Volkswagen-Golf-and-Passsat-2

While we eagerly wait for the new MQB-based Volkswagen Passat’s arrival, customers in the UK can now purchase the Passat SE Business variant (also available for the Passat Estate) which comes with the company’s new Discover Navigation system, front fog lights, electric folding side mirrors and tinted rear windows – all for just RM600 more!

Just to recap, Volkswagen Group Malaysia held a special media preview back in December 2014 of the new Passat, Golf GTE (plug-in hybrid) and all-electric small car, the e-Up. The company also revealed that the Passat B8 will most likely be the first MQB-based car to be locally assembled at their Pekan plant, although exactly when the plan will materialise remains to be seen. Volkswagen-Golf-and-Passsat-3
