Bentley considering making an all-new baby Bentayga

CEO of Bentley Motors, Wolfgang Dürheimer earlier this year said a smaller SUV dubbed the baby Bentayga is in the pipeline and is en route to send an even bigger ripple in the growing SUV market, according to a report by AutoExpress.

The smaller SUV will most likely be built on the MSB platform which underpins the new 2016 Porsche Panamera and 2017 Bentley Continental GT. Its lightweight architecture is optimised for rear wheel or four-wheel drive, putting rivals Audi Q5, Jaguar F-Pace and Porsche Macan right in the centre of Bentley’s crosshair.

The mid-size SUV segment is currently the world’s fastest growing segment, so to see Bentley filling in the luxurious compact SUV gap comes as no surprise. In fact, the introduction of the baby Bentayga will help boost annual sales volume from 8,000 units to over 15,000 units by 2018. It’ll take some time before we get to see Bentley’s new mid-size SUV in the flesh, so save up folks!
