Audi A3 Carbon Edition arrives in Malaysia, a 30-unit special run for RM195k!

Audi Malaysia, in keeping up with the momentum of building their local presence, have just introduced the limited-run Audi A3 Carbon Edition; a 30-unit special that signals the start of not one, but many more special edition variants to come.

The single, fully-imported batch of A3 Carbon Edition is offered only in the 1.4-litre TFSI guise, and costs a mere RM14k more than its base price set during the model’s launch earlier in 2014. Forking out an addition RM14k may sound like a deal breaker to some, but rest assured, you get much more than you’re paying for. Here’s why.Audi-A3-Carbon-Edition-3

Only available in Glacier White, the A3 Carbon Edition is generously fitted with Audi’s Genuine Accessories, beginning with the gloss black front lip, side sills and rear apron. Both its side mirrors are finished in glossy carbon fibre, whereas the original 17-inch wheels have been swapped for a larger and sportier set of 18-inch, matte black 5-arm rotor design alloys. Finishing off the sporty exterior styling is a carbon fibre tailgate. RM14k justified, right? Hang on, there’s more.

On the inside, all 30 units of the special-run Audi will get a combination of Alcantara and leather upholstered seats. And to further add value to your purchase, an individually numbered stainless steel plaque (from 01/30 to 30/30) will be fitted to the centre console. Also made standard here is the front and rear parking sensors, followed by a comfort key for convenience.Audi-A3-Carbon-Edition-4

If you ask us, the accessories themselves cost more than RM14,000, making the A3 Carbon Edition an absolute bargain to begin with. However, those wishing for a performance upgrade may not find what they’re looking for as it retains its original figures. The 1.4-litre TFSI unit makes 125 hp and 200 Nm of torque from 1,400 to 4,000 revolutions, and it’s mated to a seven-speed S tronic (dry clutch) transmission that sends drive to the front wheels. Acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h takes a respectable 9.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 212 km/h. Fuel efficiency on the other hand, is rated at 4.9 litres per 100km.

Following the A3 Carbon Edition’s launch, Immo Buschmann, the Managing Director of Audi Malaysia said, “The Audi A3 Carbon Edition is a showcase of how discerning customers can select customised packages featuring our range of Audi Genuine Accessories to achieve a look that is both individualistic but still distinctively Audi for their vehicles. As we ramp up our presence in Malaysia, I am looking forward to introducing more products that broaden the range of our offerings for customers that want something a little more exclusive.”
