Ford Mustang order books open: 2.3L Ecoboost from RM435k, 5.0L V8 from RM550k!

Ford Malaysia is now taking pre-launch bookings of the iconic Mustang, ahead of its arrival sometime in December this year. As you would know by now, two variants of the pony will be introduced upon arrival, the 2.3-litre EcoBoost and 5.0-litre Coyote V8. Pricing starts from RM435k for the former and the latter at RM550k.

During its preview at Publika, there were rumours of the 2.3-litre EcoBoost carrying a price tag lower than RM500k. Although Ford Malaysia’s indicative pricing isn’t significantly lower than the half-a-million mark, pricing the turbocharged four-banger between RM435,000 to RM450,000 may seriously shrug off many aspiring first-time owners.

The 5.0-litre V8 variant on the other hand, has an indicative pricing between RM550,000 to RM565,000. This motor is good for 435 hp and 542 Nm of torque, whereas the direct injected EcoBoost lump makes 310 hp and 434 Nm of torque. Malaysian bound ponies will very likely be fitted with the ZF-derived six-speed automatic as opposed to Getrag’s six-speed manual gearbox.

Both Mustangs are fully imported from Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant in the US, and will come in five colours – Oxford White, Shadow Black, Deep Impact Blue, Magnetic Grey and Race Red. The V8 variant gets an exclusive Triple Yellow Tri-Coat shade. So, dear readers, what do you think of the Mustang’s pricing? Yay, or nay?
