Hyundai celebrates 30 years of the Sonata, over 7.3 million units sold globally [+Video]

The Hyundai Sonata nameplate turns 30 this year, and the midsize D-Segment Korean sedan has certainly come a long, long way since its inception back in 1985. During its lifetime, over 7.3 million units of the Sonata has been sold worldwide.

Having been around for 30 years and seven iterations later, the Sonata is arguably at its best, donning the brand’s more matured styling, dubbed the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. Unlike before, Hyundai Sime Darby Motors have opted to remove the 2.4-litre engine, favouring the more popular 2.0L which punches 152 hp at 6,200 rpm and 194 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.
