In moving on, the Grand Cherokee SRT is a limited edition SUV, so there’s really no telling if it will be permanently offered alongside the Limited and Overland variants. This mammoth costs nearly RM220k more than the handsomely equipped Overland, so let’s find out why.
EXTERIOR
On the outside, the SRT features more muscular styling with revised front and rear bumpers. The grille gets finished in gloss black, complemented with the model’s signature adaptive bi-xenon headlamps with auto high beam control and LED daytime running lights. Look downwards and you’ll notice another pair of LED DRLs placed next to the fog lamps.
Round the side, there’s no mistaking this for any other Grand Cherokees thanks to the 20-inch black chromed wheels. Braking force is applied via a set of Brembo six-pot calipers at the front and four-pot at the rear. Lastly, the rear bears the SRT badge, a pair of large exhaust pipes and diffuser.
INTERIOR
Inside, you get full high quality leather interior, Active Noise Cancellation, CommandView dual-pane panoramic sunroof, 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect display with GPS navigation and voice command, infrared dual-zone auto air conditioning, rear air vents, heated steering wheel with paddle shifters and Multi-View reverse camera.
If that’s not enough, Jeep Malaysia is also throwing in a 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system for days when you don’t feel like hearing your V8 HEMI roar.
PERFORMANCE
The star of this show resides under the hood, and that’s the 6.4-litre normally aspirated V8 HEMI. It makes 461 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 624 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm. Together with the eight-speed torque converter gearbox, the SRT sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in an incredibly quick 4.9 seconds. In comparison, the Volkswagen Mk7 Golf R manages the century sprint in 5.0 seconds.
SAFETY
In case something goes wrong, the following safety features will be at play to ensure no lives are lost: 7 airbags, ABS, ESC, Brake Assist and Electronic Roll Mitigation. Front and rear parking sensors are standard too, with the rear view camera featuring dynamic grid lines for easy manoeuvrability.
WHAT ELSE?
Like all other Jeeps, this Grand Cherokee SRT comes with a 5-year or 150,000km warranty programme, whichever occurs first. Service interval is at every 10,000km. For those interested to know its OTR price with insurance, it’s RM717,344.38.
